Privacy Policy
Godalia ("Godalia", "we", "our", or "us") operates the Godalia iOS application (the "App"). We are a women's fashion brand based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and we are committed to handling your personal information with care, transparency, and respect.
This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, how we protect it, and the rights available to you. Please read it carefully. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you provide to us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the App.
Information you provide
- Account details — your name, email address, and phone number when you create an account or place an order.
- Delivery information — your shipping address and any delivery instructions you provide.
- Order information — items selected, order history, and correspondence related to purchases or returns.
- Preferences — your preferred display currency, language, and notification settings as configured in the App.
- Communications — messages you send us through customer support channels.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers — Apple-issued identifiers that allow the App to function correctly on your device. We do not use these for cross-app tracking.
- Usage data — features accessed, screens viewed, and in-app actions taken, used solely to improve performance and usability.
- Crash reports — diagnostic data generated automatically when the App encounters an error.
What we do not collect: We do not collect or store payment card numbers, CVV codes, or bank account details. All payment transactions are handled directly by Apple Pay and our authorised payment processor under their own security standards.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- To process, fulfil, and deliver your orders, and to communicate updates on order status and shipping.
- To create and maintain your account and provide you with access to App features.
- To respond to your enquiries, complaints, and customer support requests.
- To send you transactional notifications such as order confirmations and delivery updates.
- To personalise your App experience based on saved preferences (currency, language).
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other unlawful activity.
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
- To analyse usage patterns in an aggregated, non-identifiable form to improve the App.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following:
- Contract performance — processing necessary to fulfil your order or manage your account.
- Legitimate interests — improving App performance, fraud prevention, and internal analytics, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation — processing required to comply with applicable laws, tax regulations, or court orders.
- Consent — for any optional communications or features where we specifically request your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your account data, order history, and preferences are stored using Apple CloudKit — Apple's enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest by Apple's platform.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at [email protected].
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, including:
- Active accounts — for the duration your account remains open.
- Order records — for a minimum of five (5) years after purchase, as required by UAE commercial and tax regulations.
- Customer support records — for up to two (2) years following resolution of your enquiry.
- Marketing consent records — until you withdraw consent, plus a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping.
When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of them, contact us using the details in Section 11.
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
- Erasure — request deletion of your data where there is no lawful reason for us to retain it.
- Restriction — request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.
We will respond to all valid requests within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Children's Privacy
The Godalia App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will delete that information promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Godalia is based in the United Arab Emirates. Your information may be processed and stored in data centres located in other countries, including within Apple's global infrastructure. Where data is transferred outside your home jurisdiction, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection is applied, consistent with applicable data protection laws.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
